Biocontrol Potential of Entomopathogenic Nematodes against Odontotermes obesus (Blattodea: Termitidae) under Laboratory and Field Conditions

Odontotermes obesus (Blattodea: Termitidae) is a prevalent subterranean wood-eating termite species that causes damage to mature trees, saplings and seedlings. The efficacy of most synthetic insecticides against this notorious pest has been compromised primarily because its enigmatic feeding behavior development resistance number insecticides. It therefore become necessary explore other alternative biologically sound low-impact control methods, particularly for use in forests. Hence, study was designed verify the different indigenous EPN isolates (Steinernema carpocapsae, Heterorhabditis bacteriophora indica) workers obesus. pathogenicity each nematode isolate assessed laboratory conditions using filter paper sawdust bioassay at two temperatures (16 ± 1 26 °C).
